The American Red Cross is a non-profit organization dependent on contributions.
While it is accountable to Congress in the distribution of its funds, it is not funded by Congress.
Funds donated to the Paducah Area Chapter of the American Red Cross are used to help local victims of disaster. Donations designated for relief efforts nationally or internationally are honored by the chapter and are not used locally.
