RED CROSS PARTNERS WITH GIRL SCOUTS TO SEND COOKIES TO OUR TROOPS

Paducah, Ky., February 8, 2008 – Active military troops from the Paducah Area will receive a taste of home, thanks to the local American Red Cross and the Bear Creek Girl Scouts. 
The Paducah Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is partnering with local Girl Scouts to send cookies to our troops stationed far from home. Local residents may purchase a box of Girl Scout cookies and American Red Cross volunteers will pack and ship them to our deployed military troops.
“The Red Cross’ Services to Armed Forces program facilitates emergency communications for military families in times of crisis but we want to do more,” said Glenda Adkisson, Executive Director of the Paducah Area Chapter. “We support our troops, and know that it is difficult to be separated from family and friends. We believe receiving a box of Girl Scout cookies from home is sure to bring a smile.”
Over the next few weeks, local Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at area businesses.  Anyone wishing to participate in this program may purchase a box of cookies for our local military.  Girl Scout troops will deliver the cookies to the local Red Cross office and Chapter volunteers will package and ship the cookies.
Anyone wishing to submit the name and address of a military family member, from the area, may do so by submitting the following information:   

Local Red Cross volunteers will send an e-mail to notify the service member, in advance, that they will be receiving a package. Donations will be accepted to help cover the cost of shipping.
